Day 1: Arrival – Kigali International Airport
Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by our safari driver/guide who will brief you about the safari itinerary and transfer you to the booked accommodation in Kigali for dinner and overnight stay. Accommodation Options: Marriott Hotel (Luxury) or Flame Tree Village (Mid Range) or Quiet Haven Hotel (Budget). Meal Plan: (Dinner).
Day 2: Visit Kigali genocide memorial & transfer to Bwindi:
Today after taking your early morning breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and drive to visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, which honors the memory of the more than one million Rwandans killed in 1994 through education and peace-building. You will be able to watch and listen to some video clips from some of the survivors’ of the incident. Later you will proceed with a drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda to your booked accommodation. Accommodation Options: Mahogany Springs Lodge (Luxury) or Engagi Lodge/Silverback Lodge (Mid Range), or Broadbill Forest Camp (Budget). Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Day 3: First Gorilla Trekking Tour in Bwindi
Have an early morning cup of coffee and head out to the park head quarters for briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority officials and thereafter enter the jungle to search the mountain gorillas. After meeting the gorillas, you can sit around these great apes for a whole hour gazing into their big round eyes. Remember to come with walking shoes, packed food and mineral water, insect repellent, sun screen and hut. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to another gorilla sector within Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for your next day’s trekking. Day 4: Second Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Tour.
After your early morning cup of coffee you will head out to the park headquarters for briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) officials and thereafter enter the jungle to search for the shy mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Once you locate them, you will be allowed up to one hour with them seeing how they move about as you take photos. Please be advised that on a gorilla safari, a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as walking shoes, packed food and mineral water, insect repellent, sun screen and hut. In the afternoon, you will take a walk in the village to explore the indigenous local life of the people. Day 5: Transfer to Kigali, Rwanda.
You will have an early morning breakfast and short sightseeing experience for photography. Thereafter embark on a return journey to Kigali in Rwanda. You will have lunch in Kigali and later be transferred to the airport to catch up with your flight back home or to your next destination.
